1. School Readiness/Placement Assessment

We regularly conduct school readiness (SRA) and school placement assessments (SPA) for:
  • Preschool children who are entering Primary 1, to determine which school is most suitable or whether deferment is appropriate
  • Application to Special Education (SPED) schools
We are familiar with the SPED school application processes and can guide parents to ensure a smooth application process for our clients. We understand the high stakes of school readiness and placement assessments, and the importance of obtaining an accurate picture of your child’s functioning. Thus, we invite parents to bring their child to our clinic for familiarisation and informal play, before commencing with the actual assessment. Our educational psychologists have experience of both mainstream and special school settings, and would be able to advise you on the most appropriate option for your child.
School readiness tests at Bloom usually involves the following completed over 1 to 2 sessions with the child and 1 session with parents:
  • Qualitative feedback from teachers
  • Analysis of work samples and school records
  • Cognitive assessment (e.g. WPPSI-IV)
  • Adaptive functioning assessment (e.g. Vineland-3)
  • Parent feedback

2. Application to international/selective schools

Your child’s prospective school may have requested for an Educational Psychology report for school admissions. We understand this can sometimes be a stressful process, as you would want the best possible outcome for your child. While we cannot guarantee your child’s application outcome, we make every effort to ensure that our assessments accurately reflect your child’s strengths and needs, if any. We customise our assessment to meet the schools’ requirements to facilitate a smooth application process for our clients.
